 Goodbye to The Dock
« Thread Started on Jan 30, 2006, 12:53am »

Have you been out to Lake Harbour to say goodbye to The Dock?

Perhaps you said goodbye before they auctioned off the assets, demolished and cleared out the buildings there, and placed a pleasant (but not fancy) fountain in the Res in its place. It's amazing how small that space looks now. In its prime, the decade spanning 1985 to 1995 really, The Dock was classic/arena rock chic in a town that loves its classic/arena rock. The Dock was the last place open, it was beer in a can, it was a Spring Sunday afternoon, and it was the home of the Dock Rocker. It was Black Sabbath and it was Buffet. I saw Prince play The Dock after his Coliseum show, and it was something unbelievable -- but that's a story for another post.

Anyway, there was recently posted a sign on Harbour Road that says beginning February 3rd, 2006, at noon, Harbour Road will cease to exist as we know it. As I understand it, the Harborwalk interests will officially consume the land on either side of Harbour Road for the Harborwalk development. I'm not saying that's a bad thing -- it's just about to happen is all.

I drove by there today for one last look. I can't decide if it looked different, or if I looked different. Sorta bummed me out.
